Sense and Avoid
The Inspire 2 is equipped with forward and downward vision systems that detect obstacles up to 30 meters away, ensuring safe flight at speeds up to 34 mph (54 kph) with a controllable tilt angle of 25°. Upward-facing infrared sensors provide additional protection by scanning for obstacles up to 16 feet (5 meters) above, ideal for flying in confined or indoor spaces.
These obstacle detection features are active during regular flight, Return to Home (RTH), and all Intelligent Flight Modes. This system is part of DJI’s advanced FlightAutonomy technology, which powers many of the Inspire 2’s intelligent safety and navigation capabilities.
Spotlight Pro
Spotlight Pro is an advanced tracking feature that enables solo pilots to capture cinematic shots without a dedicated camera operator. Using sophisticated visual tracking algorithms, it locks onto a subject and maintains focus—even if the drone flies in a different direction. If the gimbal nears its movement limits, the drone itself rotates to free up gimbal motion, without disrupting the shot or flight path.
It includes two modes:

Quick Mode: Immediately begins tracking the selected subject.

Composition Mode: Allows the pilot to choose a subject and desired tracking area; tracking begins once the subject enters that zone. The gimbal can still be adjusted mid-shot for creative flexibility.
Spotlight Pro works seamlessly with all Intelligent Flight Modes, including ActiveTrack, TapFly, Waypoint, and Point of Interest.
Intelligent Flight Modes
Beyond Spotlight Pro, the Inspire 2 offers a variety of intelligent modes to streamline complex aerial shots:

Smart Return to Home
The Inspire 2’s forward and downward vision sensors create a real-time 3D map of the flight path. If the video signal is lost and Smart Return to Home is activated, the drone can retrace its original route. Once the signal is regained, it switches to a direct return path while actively scanning for obstacles up to 200 meters ahead using the main camera. This ensures a safe and efficient journey back to the pilot, even after signal interruptions.
Video Transmission System
The Inspire 2 features the latest DJI Lightbridge technology, offering a transmission range of up to 4.3 miles (7 km)*. It supports both 1080p and 720p video streams, including a dedicated FPV view for the pilot and a separate view for the camera operator.
Users can switch between 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz** control frequencies to reduce interference and maintain a stable video signal.
Master and Slave Controllers
A new HD wireless transmission system allows real-time video sharing between a master and slave controller. The two can operate up to 100 meters apart without degrading video quality.
Broadcast Mode
With built-in support for 1080i50 and 720p60 video output, the Inspire 2 can broadcast live video straight to a satellite truck—ideal for live TV coverage.

If one battery fails mid-flight, the second can continue powering the drone long enough for a safe landing. The propulsion system is designed with backup communication: if the PWM signal is lost, a secondary serial port takes over to maintain control.
